Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Microsoft Icon Vault — licensing, formats, downloads, and usage.
Where do these icons come from?
Microsoft Icon Vault is a curated, searchable library focused on official Microsoft Fabric and Azure icons. The Datasources category also includes icons for third-party products commonly used in Fabric and Azure architectures — for example IBM, Dremio, Adobe, Snowflake, Oracle, and others. Microsoft icons remain the property of Microsoft Corporation; third-party icons remain the property of their respective owners. We only organize, index, and make them easy to find and download.
Can I use these icons commercially?
Microsoft icons are Microsoft trademarks and are subject to Microsoft's trademark and brand guidelines. Third-party icons (IBM, Dremio, Adobe, Snowflake, Oracle, and other vendors shown in the Datasources category) are the property of their respective companies and are subject to those companies' own brand and trademark guidelines. They are commonly used in architecture diagrams, documentation, blog posts, and presentations. Always consult the relevant brand guidelines for your specific use case.
What formats can I download?
Every icon is available in SVG (scalable vector, lossless at any size) and PNG (raster, at 64, 128, 256, and 512 pixels). Pick the format that suits your tool.
How do I import these icons into draw.io / diagrams.net?
Use the bulk ZIP download to grab all icons, then drag them into draw.io as a custom shape library. A full step-by-step guide is available at dataguideline.com.
How do I download multiple icons at once?
Select icons in the grid and use the batch download to receive a ZIP archive containing every selected icon as an SVG.
Are new icons added over time?
Yes. The library is regenerated from the source pack whenever new icons are released. The GitHub repository tracks every update.
How can I report a missing or incorrect icon?
Open an issue on the GitHub repository (linked from the footer) or contact the author via dataguideline.com.
